Burly Men at Sea is a folktale about a trio of large, bearded fishermen who step away from the ordinary to seek adventure.
Set in early 20th-century Scandinavia, the game’s story branches through discovery in a series of encounters with creatures from folklore. You play as storyteller and wayfinder, shaping the narrative around the characters through interaction with their environment.
Brain&Brain is David and Brooke Condolora, a husband-and-wife game dev team with a love for quiet adventure. They began in 2012 with their first game, Doggins, and are now finishing their second, Burly Men at Sea. They recently spent time working as nomadic farmhands to supplement development costs and are still out there traveling the country with their indomitable cairn terrier, Oliver.
Why Right Now?
At its core, Burly Men at Sea is an exploration of everyday adventure: the simple pleasure of wandering down an unknown path to see where it leads. Our hope is that the player will take away with them this curiosity and awareness of the current moment, of what’s possible to them right now.
